MdS Training Camp
2 PLACES LEFT!!!!
HOT on the heels of our sell-out
Marathon des Sables training camp last year, we’ve now finalised dates for a further two pre-race camps/events (including heat-chamber sessions and those all-important ECG tests) in the run-up to the 2012 race.

We reckon our combination of vital information, advice, expert lectures, kit-testing, great Peak District scenery (and even better cake!) is pretty much unbeatable, but don't just take our word for it.... feedback from some of last year's participants (who all went on to successfully complete the 2010 MdS) includes:
‘I just wanted to say how brilliant the weekend was. You guys did an amazing job, and I can’t tell you how invaluable it was for me. It’s given me confidence and rested my mind on many issues that were swirling around in there! The setting was great, the food delicious, the company refreshing and fun, and all in all a very memorable event. I will actively recommend this to friends that want to do the MdS if you run another one.’ Graham Baily
‘… thank you both (and your guest speakers/guides) for the training weekend. It certainly covered in a lot of areas where I felt under-informed, which I am sure is a reflection of the effort that you both put into it.’ Shane Barrett
‘Just wanted to say a massive thanks for the MdS training weekend and express my gratitude for your hospitality and sharing your vast knowledge of all things endurance sports. There is a wealth of information on various websites and forums that direct you towards certain products because it worked for one person. They also advise you on training, medical care and kit amongst other things - however, hearing from people who had been there and done it is reassuring and ultimately priceless.
I also liked the fact that although you sell products from many different companies, your advice always remained impartial even if something was cheaper. It is refreshing that our comfort and success is more important than a few extra quid! The weekend was worth every penny and it was good to meet you and your friends. Hope to see you both soon and good luck. Thanks again’ Jay MacDonald
'Thanks so much for your help in our preparation for the MdS. Thanks also for the kit advice, the Raidlight top was an absolute godsend. I’ll keep in touch as I think further advice drawing on your experience is invaluable.” Nicki Smith
‘Thanks to you both for all the advice, it was really useful and l was definitely more prepared than most.’Hilary Bloor
Racekit MdS Training Camp: 14th-16th October, 2011 - £185
Our tried & tested training camp is a great opportunity to gain three consecutive days’ training, use your race kit in earnest, and eat the type of foods you'll be using in the desert. And when you're not running, we've got some highly experienced speakers to give you all the advice you'll need to get you to the finish line of this classic 7-day ultra. Sleeping in bunkhouse accommodation near Hathersage, we'll take you out onto the trails of the Peak District (which Amanda used to good effect in training for her successful MdS and Atacama Crossing events) - it may surprise you to learn there are some stiff climbs as well as sand dunes in the desert! We’ll provide all meals - and we'll also have a selection of different race foods and electrolytes for you to try. You'll also have the opportunity to try the type of kit we’ve tried and tested in desert ultras, and purchase clothing & equipment. We've arranged a number of seminars covering all the important topics: training, equipment, nutrition, hydration, health, foot care, tent life, mental preparation and race strategy, as well as one-on-one sports-injury & rehab sessions. All levels of experience & running ability will be catered for - so if you want some solid, no-fuss training and advice from experts who've been there and done it, this is the camp for you.
Starts c.6pm Friday and finishes c.4pm Sunday.
MdS Heat Chamber Assessment: 10th & 11th March 2012 (morning & afternoon sessions) - £150 / £165 inc ECG
This is the perfect opportunity to fine-tune your MdS preparation while you're close to race-ready fitness: discover what it feels like to run in Sahara-type heat in a specially-adapted environmental chamber and measure your sweat rate - enabling you to accurately measure how much (and how often) you'll need to drink in the desert. PLUS - Dr. Emma Dawber will be available to provide the all-important ECG test (within the 1-month deadline for the MdS) as well as offer medical advice. Andy & Amanda will also be on hand to answer last-minute questions about any aspects of your MdS prep.
