MILES & MILES...

THE UK's long-distance runners are stretching their legs...
MILES & MILES...

WE"VE CLOCKED up some good race miles in the past few weeks - Watersheds, Four Inns and Manx - and it seems we're not alone.  While the fell-running and ultra scene enjoys a welcome boost to entry numbers (with some classic events reaching their entry limits within days), the UK's premier ultra series - Runfurther - is also shifting into gear.  The 31-mile Manx was its second short category race, and this weekend sees the first 'medium' event - the Calderdale 37-miler.  Our sights, meanwhile, are set on a return to one of the 'long cat' events, the infamous Fellsman - a 61-mile epic which featured horizontal Yorkshire hail in 2009.  After that, it'll be more planning for our sponsorship of the Belper 30k, and then trying to get some serious climbing training in for the Grand Raid Pyrenees - a monster of 160km, 10,000m of ascent and some less-than-generous time cut-offs!
