KLYMIT X-FRAME
This is the award-winning, revolutionary new X-Frame from Klymit, a 3-season sleeping mat which not only marks a new milestone in inflatable mat weight - just 258 grams / 9.1oz!!! - but also allows your sleeping bag to loft more effectively AND allows greater air flow and breathability.
Central to the X-Frame's design is the need to support five key areas of the body - head, shoulder, hip, knee and feet - in other words, your body's contact points when lying down. The mat provides the necessary support in all these areas, BUT leaves open space where the body doesn't make contact, therefore allowing your sleeping bag's insulation to loft and provide insulation and warmth.
Not only is the X-Frame efficient and lightweight, it's also highly-durable and is inflated in just 3-5 breaths via the easy-to-use mouthpiece (and yes, it really IS that easy and quick - our tests have confirmed this). Deflation is even easier - just twist and the air escapes immediately, leaving you to roll the mat into a package not much bigger than a normal sized drinks can. For inflating to higher pressures, a bulb pump in included - although as with most inflatable mats, we found that too much pressure made the X-Frame hard and uncomfortable (the pump also adds 43g to the packed weight!).
For mountain-marathons, multi-day races like the MdS, or just for fans of lightweight hiking, biking and travel in general, this is going to one of the buys of 2011!!!

Inside-Out
The X-Frame's curved ends make it ideal to use inside as well as outside a sleeping bag. However, our bivvy tests found that its ribbed outer sections made rolling off the mat in the night less likely than with a normal inflatable mat!
